Master Quality Recording Studios
Designed by Carl Yanchar of Wave~Space, Los Angeles. Carl's clients include many legendary recording studios such as The Plant, Mad Hatter, Capitol Recording Studios, CBS Studios, and Lionshare. 4000 sq. ft. world class recording studio complex. The new Catamount Recording was built from the ground up, freeing the designer from restrictions that are invariably encountered when remodeling an existing building. Thus, the shape and dimensions of each recording space could be chosen specifically to create outstanding acoustic environments, and extremely efficient "traffic" patterns within the complex. Two huge windows offer a beautiful view of the great outdoors from within the live recording room. A mezzanine with comfortable client lounge, kitchen and offices overlooks the spacious "great room" lobby/reception area. A towering 20' high window wall provides natural light to this part of the building. Two complete studios. The 2000 sq. ft. Studio A is anchored by a totally refurbished and upgraded 56 channel SSL 4048E/G+ analog mixing console mated
with a Digidesign Pro Tools HD-3 system and an Otari 2"
analog 24 track. Monitors include: Tannoy 215
DMT II dual 15" mains, ProAc Studio 100 nearfields, and
Auratone SC Supercubes, all powered by a Hafler TransNova Reference
Amplifiers. A rack full of classic and neo-classic processors
by Neve, API, UREI, Chandler, Summit, Retro, Manley, Eventide, TC Electronic
and Lexicon, complete the equipment compliment. Instruments available
for use in Studio A include a 7'6" Yamaha C7 grand piano, Hammon B3 organ, and Yamaha Recording Custom drums. Catamount's elite collection of vintage tube mics, amps, and guitars is available for use in both studios. |
16 foot sloped ceilings contribute to a spacious, acoustic quality. Huge bass traps above the ceilings over the entire studio, greatly reduce muddy resonances. Each room is built on its own separate concrete slab in order to stop room-to-room bass leakage. All walls are covered in oak veneer, and all floors are solid oak. All parallel surfaces and 90 degree angles have been eliminated in order to diffuse treble, instead of absorbing it. The result is a bright, clear acoustic environment that is rich and warm with ambiance. |
